ON THE WINGS OF VICTORY...

I have seen, read, or heard, all of the preachments of men who wanted to go to war in Iraq and other places. I heard and saw more than one president of either party, preach about the menace of Communism. I saw the shock of the collapse of the Soviet Union registered in the faces and attitudes of the Ronald Reagan Cold War advocates, and now witnessed the shock of the fascists at the resurgence of the enemy in Iraq. I heard those who advocated or played along with the Cold War discuss the “Peace Dividend” how all the cash devoted to that Cold War could now be used in peacetime, to rebuild our infrastructure and our schools, hospitals and supply all the things and mechanics that a peaceful, humane and God loving nation should, but it was never done. Instead, in both instances, and avaricious corporations queued up to steal away the “Peace Dividend” with only a bit less hubris and felonious covetousness in the 1950’s, than recently.

I saw that figment of the imagination that gave rise to the same hysteria we saw in the 1950’s which led to a boom in the underground bunker mentality, where so many home-owners built useless “Bomb Shelters” In our own era now, a newer version of the same cosmically fearful, people bought great quantities of Duct tape, toilet paper and water supplies, fruitlessly.

Our troops have been lied to, abused and misused, and in being forced to fight a private grudge and profit, war, side-by-side with profiteering mercenaries, they have been, thereby, defiled by their own political leaders.

What neither the president nor his followers comprehended in their so-called faith, was how to recognize and trust the will of God. Ronald Reagan made the same mistake, but did not attack the Soviet Union, thank God, and he was shocked at what the legacy of prayer wrought. The true faithful have enough faith in God not to rush to creating violent, inhumane solutions to problems, something the president and the pope who supported him, not seeing ahead what some of us were given to see, by our God, needs yet, to learn.

True faith in God is exhibited by closely observing small signs, which serve as beacons to prophets of rare giftedness, but which others do not even recognize. Some of us saw and thus had faith in our prayers to the Mother of Life, that Our Lady of Fatima and her God, WOULD defeat the previous “Evil Empire” without the necessity of war. Our leaders should have known that, if they had they really shared the faith of their prophets to which God has spoken.

Men of faith saw before the war that there were neither Weapons of Mass Destruction in Iraq nor were there ties between the saboteurs of 9-11-01 and Iraq. We knew that if they had such weapons they would have used them. We had faith that God would solve the problem if we applied active diplomacy, carried a Big Stick, and did not resort to murderous war. Men of true, prophetic faith, followed God’s will, which the Commandments 6, 7, 8, 9 in such cases, usually represents.

Men of true faith do not make war the first option, but the last, nor do they covet a possession given a nation like Iraq by God, in this case, OIL. God does not look kindly upon attacking a nation 1/12 the size of ours which has neither air force nor navy, nor in murdering 655,000* innocent non-combatants, plus 3,000 of our own troops, under false pretences, and calling those lives and the more than 1,000,000 casualties on both sides, a “comma”.

In the old Cold War, Russia fell because we kept our armed forces strong and intact, negotiated, defended when necessary, and more than that, Prayed for the collapse of the mindset which ruled the Soviet Union. President Reagan, in charge at that time was stunned at the subsequent collapse of the USSR, even though I (and probably others) had sent him the solution President Reagan eventually used, and predicted what would happen to the USSR, even before he became president.

We should never had attacked Iraq, I said that in 2002 and I say it now, and if the president had asked us the real question: “America, should we attack Iraq and the other oil-rich nations and take away their oil for ourselves, or watch them control the fuel we need forever?”

That was the real question from the beginning. I know because in letters to several presidents I asked if they had considered such a violent course of action over oil, and said that if they had considered it, they would know that the honorable person would reject it as immoral. I said those things because I knew that certain men (now in office) have been advocating such attacks in order to pirate the oil, for more than thirty years.

In the past the president had vehemently denied that oil was the reason for the attack, but now desperate in defeat, he did mention the question he should have asked us before the attack (along with a few of his personal reasons for it) instead of lying to us and hiding the truth. He never asked us that question because people of conscience would have rejected the suggestion, with a resounding “NO!, we shall not attack Iraq or any nation to seize and squander their oil for the avarice of the oil barons and our own silly wastefulness.” He did not let us in on the real reason for attacking Iraq, because he knew we would say no! So, instead he lied.

Now, he should pressure the oil companies to lower prices to under $1.00 a gallon and nationalize oil, turning it’s pricing and distribution over to not-for-profit agencies like the major universities. Oil is a necessity of life, and no one should profit from the necessities of life. Iraq sits upon Sweet Oil, the largest cache on the planet.

Such Sweet oil can be processed $1.00-$1.50 a BARREL and sold at appropriate prices in ratio to that figure. In Iraq before the war, gasoline was selling at the pump for $00.05 a gallon and right this moment in Venezuela is selling at the pump at $00.12 a gallon.

The president was understandable shaky today, because he fears facing an impeachment and possible war crimes tribunal. Saddam killed more than 150,000 people, Bush 660,000 people. Should their fate be any different?

Some of my prayers have been answered; I have more to ask, do you?

*This figure of 655,000 dead non-combatants by health organizations is that many above the norm of the same period of years prior to the war, which is itself higher to begin with because of Desert Storm. Therefore the true figure may be closer to 775,000 above the true norm for Iraq.
